Julia Downie
Occupational Therapist
Julia is a new graduate of the University of South Australia, with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours). Living locally, Julia is passionate about supporting children and families within their own communities and has developed a strong interest in paediatrics through both her studies and professional experience as an early childhood educator, community support worker, OSHC educator and support officer within primary schools.
Julia’s commitment to paediatric occupational therapy began with her lifelong experience supporting her younger sister, who has a rare chromosomal disorder. She has experience supporting children with a range of developmental profiles and abilities, and brings a calm, flexible and empathetic approach to her work. Julia values the power of play and connection in therapy and enjoys thinking creatively to support each child’s individual strengths and goals. She is deeply committed to providing family-centred, evidence-based care that is meaningful, practical and supports children and their families to live fulfilling and independent lives.
