What We Offer

We help to grow the self-esteem and personal accomplishments of children, using our therapies to improve their physical, emotional, cognitive and motor skill abilities. Whether in the clinic, home or school environment, our interventions are tailored to the specific developmental needs of the child, while also providing families with tools and strategies to support them to achieve their goals.

Our team has a network of trusted partners that we can refer families to where relevant. We work with paediatricians, psychologists, educators, speech pathologists, physiotherapists and other allied health professionals to ensure an integrated therapeutic plan suited to each child’s individual needs.

What is Occupational Therapy for Children?

At its core, occupational therapy for children is about supporting children to grow and participate in everyday activities. Traditionally, it is a therapy that supports children to improve skills like sleeping, toileting, dressing, eating, playing, socialising, emotional regulation and gross and fine motor skills.

At Bud, we work to understand your child’s strengths and growth areas, determining how these factors may affect their participation and enjoyment at home, at school and in other settings. From there, we create a tailored and unique therapeutic plan according to the child, that primarily focusses on their relationships and surroundings.

Working with your family and your child’s networks, we create a nurturing environment that guides them towards independence and allows them to thrive. With increased sense of security and sense of self, children are able to engage meaningfully in relationships, play, socialising and self-care, with confidence and fulfillment.

Benefits of Occupational Therapy

There are vast functional and emotional benefits of regular occupational therapy for children who have cognitive, emotional, social or physical growth areas.

At Bud, together with the child’s family and network, we design and put into place a therapeutic plan that includes the most appropriate and evidence-based therapeutic approaches to suit each child and family’s needs and learning styles.  This includes a series of activities and methods which help to enhance their capabilities, communication and learning.

We work closely with children in a way that allows them to naturally adopt the skills that can help them improve and develop, in areas such as:

  • Self-care skills: sleep, toileting, mealtimes, dressing
  • Gross motor skills: movement, strength and balance, coordination and praxis
  • Fine motor skills: hand manipulation and handwriting, hand strength, manual dexterity, everyday tasks
  • Executive functioning: emotional regulation, problem solving, time management, flexibility, self-control

  • Play and exploration
  • Social skills: participation and sharing, negotiation, considering perspectives, managing conflict, building friendships
  • Emotional skills: regulation, recognising and naming emotions
  • Mental health: confidence, resilience, wellbeing
  • Sensory processing and integration

Supporting children to connect, move and be is at the core of our purpose at Bud Therapies.
